Cesc Fabregas, the Como coach, spoke to Sky Sport the evening before the match against Feyenoord in the Champions League, dedicating a special moment to his former teammate, Van Bronckhorst. "We challenged each other in the Champions League final and in the World Cup final. He's a great guy, a great person, a nice, nice player and he's proving to be a great coach," said Fabregas, underlining the importance of recognizing the value of a player beyond the numbers.
During his interview, Fabregas reiterated that, although the World Cup is the most significant achievement for him, the Champions League is still missing. “The Champions League hurt me incredibly, but the past is made of memories, today I am a coach,” he added, highlighting the transition from a career as a player to that of a manager.
The coach then turned to the young midfielder Nico Paz, who is going through a period of personal and professional growth. "He is always judged for assists and goals, but he had the 2-3 most important actions against Roma. For us he is decisive, strong, continues to grow and is only at the beginning of his third season as a professional", he explained. Fabregas reiterated that Paz, with his international experience, does not worry him, and that his desire to learn is an added value for the team.
Regarding squad management, Fabregas expressed caution, acknowledging that it is the first time in the club's history that they have faced such a level of competition. "We are at the beginning, anyone who has done something in their life knows that what you do on the first day is not the same thing after 10 years. I'm calm, I want everyone to play as much as possible, they deserve it", he declared, highlighting the desire to give space to all the players.
Como, which is preparing to challenge Feyenoord, is in a phase of construction and hope. Fabregas closed the interview with a message of confidence: "We are Como, I hope our history is long. Everyone thinks as they want, but I'm really very calm." With the Champions League ahead, the club aims to turn the dream into reality, focusing on a young team determined to grow day after day.
