Juventus has appealed to the Court of Cassation against the ruling of the Court of Turin, which on 13 January rejected the appeal of the arbitration award in favor of Cristiano Ronaldo. The appeal, notified on 27 March 2026, now awaits the setting of a hearing. The case concerns the 9.8 million euros already paid to the footballer, who requested compensation of 19.6 million euros for unpaid wages during the Covid-19 period. The Arbitration Panel, in April 2024, had recognized only half of the amount, establishing compensation of 9.8 million plus interest and revaluation, motivating the decision on the pre-contractual responsibility of the club for the failure to finalize the agreement between the parties.

Juventus has already paid the amount in the 2023/24 budget, but contested the award before the Court of Turin. The judgment, which focused on the legal defects contested by the club, was rejected in January without reconsidering Ronaldo's financial claims. For this reason the company has decided to take the matter to the Court of Cassation, hoping to obtain a review of the case. On an accounting level, the continuation of the case should not lead to new negative effects: the 9.8 million have already been fully accounted for.

The appeal therefore represents Juventus' last attempt to annul the ruling of the Court of Turin and to overturn the decision which has already led to the payment of a significant sum to the player. If the Court of Cassation were to accept the request, Juventus could avoid further payments or modify the amount due. At the moment, the case remains exclusively judicial and the result will depend on the analysis of the motivations of the Court of Turin and the assessment of the Supreme Court. The next phase involves the hearing, the date of which will be set by the competent court.
