The French midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni, who played at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, spoke about Real Madrid's upcoming match against the same city on the second day of the Champions League. In the interview, Tchouaméni emphasized that his focus is on the team's performance and not on refereeing controversies. "I don't want to talk about the referees. Now we have a lot of frustration with the decisions," he said, stressing that the most important thing is to win and look to the future.
The player explained that Real Madrid feels motivated after the victory against Inter and that the objective is to maintain that level of play against Roma. "It's an important game. We started in the best possible way against Inter and we want to continue like this against Roma," he said. He also commented that the team has a good group relationship and that the incorporation of Diomande brings more creativity to the midfield, although he remains silent about the need for a more creative midfielder, leaving that issue to the technical direction.
Tchouaméni acknowledged that the team needs to improve its game with the ball and that, although it has not reached its highest level since the beginning of the season, they are working in training to correct it. “With the ball we have certainly not played at our best level from the beginning, but we worked on it in training and we will surely improve,” he stated. He also highlighted the importance of running intelligently, citing statistics that show that Real Madrid does not always run as much as its rivals.
Regarding the relationship with coach José Mourinho, the midfielder indicated that he has spoken with the coach and that Mourinho has asked him to maintain the balance between offense and defense, in addition to looking to the future with the ball. "He asked me for balance, it is important with all the offensive players we have. And to look forward with the ball, to score goals, but above all balance," he explained.
Finally, Tchouaméni shared his opinion on the Ballon d'Or, considering that Kylian Mbappé deserves it for his outstanding season, and that other Frenchmen such as Ousmane Dembélé and Olise Gneka have also had outstanding performances. With the Roma match just around the corner, Real Madrid is preparing to continue competing for titles, with its sights set on the next victory and the team's continuous improvement.
