Matteo Darmian reaffirmed his gratitude towards Inter, recalling with appreciation the period spent in the Nerazzurri team. “I was aware that I had a year left on my contract, so that my career with Inter could end, but it ended well, winning a Scudetto and an Italian Cup,” declared the defender.
Darmian began his current adventure in Serie A on 8 October, when he moved to Bologna. At 36 years old, he has already worn the rossoblu shirt in three games as a starter, proving that he is still a valuable element on the pitch. However, his thoughts quickly turned to the past, to his long experience with Inter, where he played for six years and made 218 appearances.
In speaking with Sportmediaset, the player underlined the importance of the bond built with the team: "For me they have been six wonderful years, I have an incredible bond with everyone". He adds that, in his vision, Inter's group of players and structure have been the basis for recent successes, including the Scudetto and the Italian Cup. "Still favorite for the scudetto? I really think so and she is proving it again this year", he concluded.
Darmian's comment comes at a time when Inter continues to aim for the title with a well-balanced team and a solid defensive unit, thanks also to the presence of veterans like him. His return on farewell, therefore, is not just a memory but a recognition of the role he had in building a competitive and successful team.
With the season still ongoing, interest in Inter remains high and fans can count on the contribution of experienced players like Darmian to support the title race. The player's future at Bologna, however, remains open, with the prospect of continuing to offer experience and leadership in Serie A.
