Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 in the Clasico, the 10th round of La Liga, held on the 25th, extending a nine-game winning streak that began at the start of the season. The match was decided by Mbappé's two goals, and although he was let down once after taking the lead, he scored again in the 88th minute to seal the victory. Despite playing against Barcelona at home, Real continued to maintain their momentum.
After the match, Mbappe said, ``The main character today is the team, this group,'' emphasizing the tenacity and unity of the team as a whole rather than individual contributions. He said, ``Our wins over the past few games are due to our solid preparation and positive attitude of giving everything we have,'' and said that the team's unity was directly linked to the victory.
Furthermore, Mbappé talked about the importance of the match, which alternated between tough times and times when they took control, and pointed out that a victory would have a great meaning in keeping them in contention for the championship. However, he said, ``We can't be satisfied with this,'' and while recognizing that it was only three points, he said that they need to accumulate more points in order to win the league championship.
He reiterated the importance of cohesion, saying, ``If you want to accomplish something, you have to work as a group and as a team,'' and expressed confidence that the team has sufficient quality. Mbappé asserted, ``Anyone who claims that we still lack quality is a liar,'' and concluded that the key to winning the championship is for everyone to work together towards the goal.
This victory made Real Madrid even more cohesive and confident. The next match will be against Racing Santander on the 1st of next month, and the team is expected to continue their challenge to win the league championship.
