Cagliari concluded the ninth matchday of SerieA with a defeat against Roma, but coach Fabio Pisacane declared he was satisfied with the commitment shown by the team. In a press conference held immediately after the match at the Olympic Stadium, Pisacane underlined that, although the result was not the one hoped for, the performance was still positive. He praised Romano's playmaking, which played a key role, and acknowledged that Roma were a team "that needs no introduction".
Pisacane explained that the choice at the start of the match was adequate, with particular attention to players like Nzola and Fadera, who, in his opinion, could become fundamental elements of the group. He also highlighted that, despite the maximum effort, the team failed to beat Roma, but still achieved some strong points, such as the nine shots on goal. “We deserved a different result, but we are satisfied and bring home positive things,” he said.
The coach then spoke about Romano's role, defining him as "the future of the national team" and reiterated that he needs no introduction. He also mentioned the possibility of a future meeting with Mancini, but underlined that Romano's experience is already enough to guarantee his presence on the pitch. Regarding the substitutions, Pisacane noted that the first time Fadera was a starter he showed a decline, but the changes still helped the team maintain competitiveness.
Pisacane then analyzed Cagliari's situation compared to recent results, recalling the difficulties encountered against Monza and Verona. He said the team knows its strengths and weaknesses and that, despite the difficulties, it is capable of competing in the league. He also commented on the match against Bologna, highlighting that the team demonstrated personality and determination, especially in the second half of the match.
Finally, the coach closed the conference with a message of confidence, underlining that Cagliari is destined to grow. “We are compact and humble, the championship is tough but fascinating,” he concluded, leaving open the prospect of improving in the next few days of the championship.
