RCLens once again finds itself facing uncertainty regarding the future of its star striker, OdsonneÉdouard, who could be one of the first departures identified during the next winter transfer window.
During the last summer transfer, the 28-year-old striker chose to stay at Artois despite several offers and the possibility of considerably increasing his income. His contract, which binds him to the club until June 2028, guarantees him a gross salary of around €180,000 per month, including a bonus linked to qualification for the Champions League. L’Équipe stressed that his attachment to the club and his family situation had pushed him to stay, but that his future was not definitively sealed.
Since the start of the 2025-2026 season, OdsonneÉdouard has struggled to regain the productivity that made him shine the previous year. He scored 14 goals in all competitions last season, but has not scored or provided an assist in seven matches played this season. His preparation was affected by an adductor injury and a serious family event, which partly explains his lack of form. The Lens staff hope that he will gradually regain confidence and rhythm.
The club therefore keeps the door open to a possible exit as the winter transfer window approaches. If the attacker regains his level, Lens will be able to count on him as a pillar of its squad. Conversely, a lack of performance could bring up the question of leaving again. In either case, the club will have to reassess its career plan for OdsonneÉdouard.
Currently, RCLens are waiting to see how the striker recovers from his injuries and family trauma. The club remains determined to support him psychologically and provide him with the necessary conditions for him to return to his best level. The next winter market will be decisive in determining whether OdsonneÉdouard will continue his adventure in Artois or whether he will look for a new destination.
