Roma coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, commented on the 4-2 result obtained against Cagliari, in what was the ninth matchday of Serie A. In his speech to DAZN, Gasperini expressed satisfaction with the victory, while underlining the difficulties encountered during the match.
According to the presenter, the team had to face moments of difficulty, especially in attack, where Cagliari were fresher and created complicated situations. “We played with the same ones in midfield and it showed,” he said, adding that the result was an even greater merit thanks to the substitutions and collective work. Gasperini also highlighted the important arrival of Ghilardi, who showed a notable improvement compared to the previous year and will continue to find space on the pitch.
The coach then spoke about Gollini's role, describing him as a player who has shown that he doesn't play 112 high-level matches by chance. “He's a different boy now, more serious and motivated,” he explained, underlining the importance of psychological work and constant commitment. Gollini, who began his career at Atalanta, has been recognized as a top-level goalkeeper.
Gasperini also mentioned the young people in the youth sector, in particular Lulli and Pisilli, who have proven to have significant value. “They are extraordinary boys, attached to the team and with the dream of making their debut with the greats,” he said, praising Lulli's performance with headers and Pisilli's ability to hit with precision. The coach underlined that the growth of these young people is fundamental for the future of Roma.
Finally, Gasperini closed his speech by recognizing Cagliari's difficulty and the quality of the match. “Something could go wrong, but having won is a great merit,” he said, suggesting that Roma will continue to work to consolidate their position in the standings and prepare for the next challenges.
