PaoloZanetti took to the cameras of Sportitalia to talk about his experience with Hellas Verona and the difficulties that led him to leave the club. In a long interview he explained why his adventure in Veneto ended and revealed that, despite the exemption, he is still trying to get back into the game.
According to the coach, the end of his tenure in Verona was caused by a series of errors in the management of last year's winter transfer market. “I made a mistake in managing the winter transfer market, we lost the most important players and I was discouraged,” he admitted. “I believe that, as a coach, I have to keep the bar straight, but during that time my vision was not aligned with the needs of the club.” These errors, he added, had a negative impact on team morale and led to his decision to step down as coach.
After his dismissal, Zanetti declared that he was still waiting for a new opportunity. “We are always waiting,” he explained, quoting the calciohellas.it website. "There was something, but things didn't fit together. I'm trying to use the time to analyze mistakes and observe the best examples of management, as well as enjoy some time with the family." Despite the uncertain situation, the coach expressed confidence that a new position will arise.
In the meantime, the market's attention has shifted to Sampdoria, where Zanetti was initially approached but then replaced by Luca D'Angelo. The Ligurian club has decided to change direction, leaving the coach in a transition position. Despite the breakup, Zanetti maintained a professional tone, underlining that his priority is to find a new role where he can contribute his experience.
Looking to the future, Zanetti remains open to new challenges. He expressed his desire to get back into the running in the world of football, but also reiterated the importance of more careful management of the market and a more balanced approach to leadership. With his experience and knowledge of the sector, it is likely that he will soon find a new role, either as a coach or as a consultant, continuing to contribute to the Italian football landscape.
