Roma coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, provided the latest updates on the two injured players during yesterday's press conference, immediately after the home defeat against Real Madrid. The coach explained the conditions of Manu Koné and Paulo Dybala, both of whom came off in the 17th and 46th minutes of the match respectively.
Koné, who had started the match with a good rhythm, suffered a muscle strain, defined by the technical staff as a strain. The injury was caused by a sudden stride that caused the muscle to detach. According to the club doctor, the injury will require a recovery period of a few weeks, with the possibility of returning to the pitch once the pain is under control and muscle strength is regained. Gasperini added that, for the players not mentioned, these are simple ailments which do not compromise their availability in the short term.
As for Dybala, the Argentine striker reported a muscle strain. The player, who had shown excellent form in the first half, moved discreetly in search of space, but suffered pain which forced him to leave the pitch. The coach underlined that it is a muscular problem that will require an adequate period of rest and physiotherapy. Dybala is currently recovering and the coach has expressed confidence in his prompt return.
Gasperini also reiterated that, for the other members of the team, the problems are minor in nature and will not affect the next matches. The coach asked the public to respect the privacy of the players and not to speculate on the timing of their return to the pitch. With the end of the recovery phase, Roma will have to review their composition to face the next Serie A challenges, while the club continues to carefully monitor the health of its key players.
