Roma is preparing for a Champions League night that will remember 2019, when the Giallorossi team hosted a top European competition match for the first time. Tomorrow, at the Olimpico, Real Madrid will arrive with the highly anticipated ex-Mourinho, and the city of Rome has put in place a specific mobility plan to welcome the fans and guarantee an efficient traffic flow.

The Municipality of Rome has extended the metro service hours until 1:30 am, covering all lines (A, B/B1 and C). Line A will offer runs every 10 minutes with 16 trains, B/B1 will maintain a frequency of 5 minutes in the central section and 10 on the Jonio and Rebibbia branches, while C will guarantee a train every 8 minutes. Furthermore, the “NAV STADIO” shuttle has been activated, a high-frequency connection between Ottaviano station (Line A) and Piazzale Maresciallo Giardino, with departures every 5 minutes during the inflow and outflow phases.

For visiting fans, expected to number around 1500 spectators, 12 scheduled shuttles will be available, coordinated with the Police Headquarters, which depart from the Meeting Point in Piazzale delle Canestre towards the stadium. At the same time, sharing mobility will be strengthened with an increase in the availability of scooters, e-bikes and scooters, to encourage short and sustainable journeys.

The Councilor for Mobility, Eugenio Patanè, underlined the importance of channeling the majority of spectators towards public transport and shared mobility solutions. "The Champions League match between Rome and Real Madrid is a sporting event of great international impact for our city. We have adopted an ad hoc mobility plan, in line with the model already successfully tested in other major events such as the Italian tennis internationals and the Italian Cup finals", declared Patanè. “Our goal is to offer a concrete and efficient alternative to the private car, guaranteeing rapid and safe inflow and outflow from the stadium, minimizing inconvenience to city traffic.”

With these measures, Rome aims to consolidate a structural model of mobility that can be replicated in future international challenges, while ensuring a positive experience for fans and the local community. The match therefore promises to be not only a high-level sporting event, but also an opportunity to highlight the city's ability to manage large-scale events with efficiency and sustainability.
