Gonçalo Ramos returned to Milan with a record spending for the Rossoneri club: 74 million euros, the highest in Milan's history. The Portuguese, who spent three seasons at Paris Saint‑Germain, explained in an interview with "Soltinhos pelo Mundo" broadcast on Canal11 the reasons for his transfer and the reasons that pushed him to leave the French capital.
In the program, Ramos recalled the experience of often being relegated to the bench under the management of Luis Enrique. “I've had few opportunities to start, only two games this season,” he said, adding that the lack of continuity had frustrated him. “Sometimes I would score for four or five games in a row without being on the pitch; it didn't make sense to me.” Despite the frustration, he maintained respect for the club and his teammates, stressing that "the group was fantastic" and that his Portuguese colleagues encouraged him to stay.
Ramos then said that he had already thought about leaving Paris last winter transfer window. “I wanted to leave in January, but PSG wasn't willing to sell me,” he explained. “Luis Campos told me I could go this summer, but the club had already closed the deal.” During the World Cup, the player was in contact with agent Jorge Mendes, who expressed AC Milan's interest. When Ruben Amorim arrived at the club, he called Ramos and confirmed the offer. “One morning Mendes called me and told me the deal was done,” he recalled.
The new club offers Ramos a starting role and more space to express himself. "My life is happy, in a peaceful atmosphere. I play more in a club that gives me more space," he declared. He also expressed pride at the possibility of playing more with the Portuguese national team, considered an important showcase for his career. “It's a source of pride,” he added.
Ramos closed the interview by reflecting on his management of emotions. "If I had shown anger, they would have harmed me. I turned the frustration into something positive," he explained. The Portuguese is now preparing to make his debut with Milan, where he expects to contribute to the club's success in SerieA and the Champions League. The next step will be to see how he fits into Amorim's team and whether he can achieve the results expected by the club and its fans.
