Bologna decided to focus on a new midfield after the 0-2 defeat against Cagliari, choosing the adapted Odgaard as their fourth attacker. The choice, made by coach Stefano Palladino, was welcomed with interest by the club, which has already purchased three center forwards this summer: Odgaard, Piccoli and Dovbyk, in addition to the arrival of Enem.
In the context of the season, Bologna had to review their attacking strategy. Odgaard, already used as a number nine under Thiago Motta, was seen as the most suitable solution to complete the lineup. The coach underlined that the Dutchman has shown that he deserves ownership, thanks to his ability to adapt to different positions in attack. "Enem has a sore tendon, his workload during the week is limited. He didn't play because he had some problems like Dovbyk, who has to give something more. Odgaard has shown me that he deserves the starting position", declared Palladino.
The choice of Odgaard was also motivated by the contractual conditions of the three other players. Piccoli is injured and Bologna has a redemption obligation conditional on reaching safety. Enem was purchased outright, while Dovbyk is present only with the right to buy. If the relationship continues, it would be difficult to predict his stay beyond February. This leads the club to consider the adoption of Odgaard as a more stable solution for the season.
Bologna, which has already demonstrated good management of the market, is now preparing to make the most of Odgaard's qualities. The coach expressed confidence in his ability to contribute both in the construction phase of the game and in the final phase, at a time when the team needs to consolidate its presence in attack. With the choice of Odgaard, Bologna intends to strengthen their offensive structure and improve their chances of obtaining positive results in the next matches.
