The Sporting Judge has issued a severe sentence against Massimiliano Allegri, Napoli coach, which sees him disqualified for two matches and fined €10,000. The decision, published on 26 October, concerns the 8th matchday of SerieA, which ended with Napoli's victory against Roma. Allegri will be excluded from the next match, scheduled for Sunday at the Stadio delle Palestra against Juventus, and will no longer be able to participate in the midweek match against Monza.
In the device, signed by Dr. Gerardo Mastrandrea, reference is made to unacceptable behavior on the part of the coach. Allegri allegedly made an insulting expression towards the match officials in the 45th minute of the second half, as well as displaying an aggressive attitude towards an opposing manager. In the garage he would also have expressed seriously disrespectful words towards the officials themselves. The infringements were detected by the Fourth Official, the Race Director and collaborators of the Federal Prosecutor's Office. For these facts, the judge ordered a two-match ban and a fine.
The sanction will have immediate repercussions on Napoli's calendar. The club will lose the match against Juventus, which was already scheduled as one of the most important matches of the season. Furthermore, the team will no longer be able to rely on Allegri's experience in managing high-level matches, especially considering that Juventus has been the coach's home for many years. Allegri's absence could affect the tactical preparation and motivation of the players in view of the next matches.
The case is not limited only to disciplinary sanctions. According to the press release, the federal prosecutor's office, led by prosecutor Chinè, could open a more in-depth investigation into the events that occurred during the Napoli-Roma match. Chinè, also present at the meeting between Naples and Rome, has already expressed interest in any further checks. If the prosecutor were to investigate the matter further, Allegri and the Napoli management could face further investigations.
Napoli will therefore have to face the next match without their coach, while the Juventus team will be able to count on a complete lineup. For Allegri, the disqualification and fine represent a severe blow, but his experience and ability to lead the team remain key elements for future challenges. The club will have to plan a temporary replacement strategy to maintain competitiveness in SerieA and prepare for upcoming challenges, both in the league and in other competitions.
