Valencia has secured its young promise, David Otorbi, with a new extension that links him to the club until June 2031 and increases his termination clause to 60 million euros. The Valencian winger, 19 years old and of Nigerian descent, signed the agreement after recovering from a muscle injury in his right thigh, which has kept him out of the squad during the last phase of the tournament.
Otorbi arrived at the Valencia Academy at the age of 12 and has progressed rapidly through the youth ranks, becoming the fastest and most skilled player in the youth system. His career led him to mark a milestone in January 2024, when he made his debut in an official first team match at the age of 16 years, 2 months and 19 days, becoming the youngest footballer to appear in the club's history. Since then, he has participated in 14 official matches with the first team and scored his first goal of the season on the eighth matchday of LaLiga, against Racing de Santander.
The club has highlighted that the renewal represents a commitment both in the short and long term. “Its renewal represents a commitment to the present and future,” stated the Valencia statement. The signing comes at a delicate moment for the player, who is out of the team's dynamics after a muscle injury suffered in the match against Villarreal, where he had to leave the field before completing the first fifteen minutes.
With the new clause, Valencia guarantees that any offer that exceeds 60 million euros will be mandatory, ensuring that the club can benefit from the possible sale of the player or keep him in the squad. The extension also reinforces the club's confidence in the development of its youth academy and in the continuity of its long-term sporting project.
