The journalist Massimo Mauro, interviewed by *La Gazzetta dello Sport*, expressed his opinion on the current state of the Juventus and Milan teams. According to him, the two clubs share a series of tactical problems and lack of quality in the central area of the pitch.
Mauro underlined that, when the two teams find themselves facing compact defenses, their offensive organization is often embarrassing. The main problem, according to the former footballer, is the dependence on external players who are unable to create real opportunities: they do not make effective crosses and do not pass the ball to the centre-forward. Consequently, the only action remains the return to the field and the shot, a strategy which, if repeated, leads to disappointing results.
The former captain cited a recent episode against Cagliari, where Juventus only produced two or three goals thanks to the introduction of Alajbegovic, who produced two quality crosses. “This is proof that, without a player capable of creating play, the attack doesn't work,” said Mauro.
The biggest flaw, according to him, is the absence of quality players in the central area. He mentioned Douglas Luiz as an example of a "scholastic" player, who never takes risks, makes passes one meter away and is unable to invent actions against closed defenses. Furthermore, Juventus has to deal with the absence of Yildiz, who, although not an "alibi", is considered the most important player in the Juventus squad.
To compare, Mauro said that Roma appear better equipped than Milan and Juventus, and also mentioned Napoli, who despite starting badly, seem to have a more solid structure.
In summary, the interview highlights the critical issues of two of the most important teams in Serie A, with a particular focus on the lack of quality in the attacking midfield and the dependence on external players to create scoring opportunities. The future of the two teams will depend on their ability to integrate new talent in these key areas and improve their ability to build play in a more dynamic and creative way.
