Aaron Danks' deputy has provided new details on the recovery of Vincent Kompany, the Bayern Munich coach, who was hospitalized last Friday due to fatigue after a training session. The Belgian coach, afflicted by a viral infection that had broken out about two weeks earlier, was transported to hospital by ambulance and had to stop his activities with the club.
During the press conference held the evening before the German Cup match against Magdeburg, Danks explained that Kompany is showing signs of improvement. “He's in good spirits and seems to be improving day by day, so it's really positive,” he said, stressing that despite the progress, a return date cannot yet be set. The main objective remains complete recovery, without forcing times that could compromise the coach's health.
The deputy also told of a visit to Kompany on Monday, during which they had a friendly chat. "We didn't talk about football or tactics, but he asked me how things were going and how the players were doing. It was nice to see him," he added. Despite the positive atmosphere, the priority remains Kompany's care and rest in a calm environment, as Danks explained.
Despite the optimism, the exact nature of the problem that has affected the coach has not yet been defined. Max Eberl, Bayern's CEO, reiterated that it will be necessary to fully understand the diagnosis before establishing recovery times. "First we need to understand what happened, then how, and only then we will calmly evaluate what this means in terms of recovery time. For now we are not setting any deadlines and we will not talk in terms of days, but weeks," Eberl said.
With the German Cup match still on the schedule, Bayern Munich will have to continue to handle the Kompany situation with caution. The team will focus on maintaining their performance on the pitch, while the club awaits further updates on the condition of its coach. The near future will therefore be defined by medical decisions and Kompany's willingness to return to the pitch.
