Kaká, former Brazilian footballer and winner of the Ballon d'Or in 2007, expressed his approval for the selection of Harry Kane as champion of the award in the 2024 edition. In an interview with the Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the legendary striker highlighted Kane's outstanding season with Bayern Munich, calling her “great” and “protagonist”, and stated that the player had “won a lot”.
The former player also commented on the performance of other recent talents. He noted that Kylian Mbappé had not achieved “much” with Real Madrid, despite his initial expectations. As for Lamine Yamal, Kaká acknowledged that the young player had won titles with Barcelona, but considered that his impact “was not as decisive as expected.” Even so, the former player added that Yamal's moment will come and that the decision to reward Kane, “considering his performance during the season,” is “correct.”
During the interview, Kaká took the opportunity to elude his possible future as a coach, stating that the tensions and burden of that position do not appeal to him and that “we can talk about it again in a couple of years.” He also defended Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil coach, asking for patience and time so that the “Canarinha” can generate positive results, since the management of a team differs from that of a club.
The former player concluded with comments about Milan, which faces Inter in the “Derby della Madonnina” in Milan. He stated that Milan has the possibility of beating Inter, considered one of the main contenders for the title, although he ruled out that the fight for the Scudetto is decided. Kaká also praised the work of Cesc Fàbregas with Como, whom he congratulated after their match at the World Cup.
