The director of Professional Football at Atlético de Madrid, Mateu Alemán, has made it clear that he is not going to open the door to the departure of Marc Pubill, whom he considers a key player for the future of the club. In the run-up to the match against RCD Espanyol, Alemán explained that his objective is to keep the team competitive and fight for titles, so he does not contemplate decapitalizing the squad.
The Spaniard, who has become an important figure in the club's youth team, highlighted the evolution and performance of Pubill, who has been world champion with the under-20 team. "Marc has had a spectacular evolution. We are very happy with him and we hope that he will be with us for many years," said Alemán, stressing that the player is a fundamental piece for Atlético's long-term strategy.
Regarding the purchase option for Jonathan David, which the club has agreed with Juventus, Alemán pointed out that there is still enough time to execute it. "There is enough time for the purchase option in June. Our focus is on the team's high competitive load, with matches every three days," he explained in an interview with DAZN. The director emphasized that the current priority is performance in competitions, so the decision on David is postponed until the team is more focused on its sporting goals.
Alemán also emphasized the atmosphere within the locker room, considering it a key factor for the team's performance. "It's been a year since I arrived at Atleti and one of the things that I have always highlighted is the atmosphere I found in the locker room. It is one of the keys to performance," he commented, recalling that internal cohesion has remained solid throughout his management.
With the season in full swing and the schedule becoming more demanding, Atlético de Madrid will continue to focus on its immediate objectives. The decision on the purchase of Jonathan David will remain on hold until the club is in a more favorable position to evaluate the transaction, while the retention of Marc Pubill remains a priority to ensure the continuity and long-term success of the team.
