Abel Balbo, former Roma and Udinese striker, shared his reflections on a match that saw the two teams face each other at the BluEnergy Stadium, shortly after his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. In his story, Balbo recalled how the start of his career in Italy was welcoming, defining Friuli "like a child welcomed like a son" and underlining that his bond with Udinese was born thanks to a meeting with Marino in Argentina.
The player then explained that, for him, the match between Udinese and Roma represents a "match of the heart". He expressed gratitude for the welcome he received in Friuli and highlighted how the experience with Udinese transformed him into a man. “I arrived in Udine thanks to a gesture from Marino, who came to see me in secret in Argentina,” he declared, referring to his professional growth path.
During the interview, Balbo commented on the physical tone of the match, calling it "very physical" and "decided by details". He noted that Roma are trying to maintain the continuity of positive results, while Udinese must "get out of the quicksand". According to Balbo, Udinese's strength lies in both the quality of the players and the coach, and he considers the current position in the league table "inexplicable" given the solidity of the team.
Balbo's message fits into a context of historical rivalry between the two teams, with both sides trying to consolidate their position in Serie A. The match saw Roma trying to maintain the offensive rhythm, while Udinese focused on defensive solidity and the ability to exploit the key moments of the game. With the season still ongoing, both teams remain in competition for top positions, with Roma aiming to confirm their leading position and Udinese looking to consolidate their position at the top of the table.
Looking ahead, the two teams will need to continue to focus on technical and tactical details to maintain competitiveness. Roma will have to ensure they do not lose the consistency that has characterized their recent performances, while Udinese will have to exploit their internal strength and the guidance of their coach to overcome difficulties and improve their position in the table.
