Roma is preparing to play the seventh matchday of Serie A against Genoa at the Olimpico, at 8.45pm. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has announced the call-up of 23 players, but the team has to deal with five important absences: the injured Svilar, Cristante, Konè and Dybala, as well as the suspended Malen. The absence of these players, all starters or almost starters, puts pressure on the Giallorossi squad, which had to deal with the disappointment of the Champions League against Real Madrid.
Among the goalkeepers, Gasperini chose Vasquez, De Marzi and Gollini, while the defense is made up of Rensch, Koulierakis, Ndicka, Molina, Hermoso, Mancini, Balerdi, Wesley, Lulli and Ghilardi. The midfield is led by Pellegrini, De Roon, Pisilli, Di Nunzio and Mora, while the attacking part is entrusted to Castro, Soulé, Arena, Paratici and Camara. Despite the lack of key players, the coach underlined that the team is ready to overcome the challenge, believing that the match is an opportunity to demonstrate its value after the defeat against Real Madrid.
The context of the match is further complicated by the pressure of maintaining the top position in the table. Gasperini said he felt no pressure for the Scudetto or the Champions League, but recognized the importance of regaining confidence after the recent defeat. The coach also commented on the record of three consecutive missed penalties, calling it a mistake that needs to be corrected.
Genoa, on the other hand, arrives on the pitch with a squad that includes the youth of the Primavera, offering the club the opportunity to showcase emerging talent. The match will be decisive for both teams, as Roma look to consolidate their position in the table, while Genoa aim to gain valuable points against a top-level opponent. With the absences of Svilar, Cristante, Konè, Dybala and Malen, Roma will have to rely on a younger and less experienced squad, while Genoa will be able to take advantage of the presence of fresher and more motivated players. The final result will determine whether Roma will be able to recover lost ground and whether Genoa will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to advance in the rankings.
