Lecce coach EusebioDiFrancesco expressed his disappointment after the defeat against Frosinone, believing that the team "exited the match too early". In a press conference held at 8.57pm, the host explained that, despite a good start, the players' mentality suffered a decline, leading to a series of errors that favored the opponent.
DiFrancesco underlined that Frosinone played with great determination, but his team fell into a "mental escape" which made the duels more difficult. In particular, the opponent's fifth goal was a point of frustration for the coach, who stated that he did not consider it a penalty, but rather a result demonstrating a loss of concentration. He also highlighted how the lack of quality in some positions, due to injuries and lack of training, affected his tactical choices.
The coach commented on the difficulty of maintaining aerial superiority, despite the height of his players, and acknowledged that Frosinone exploited this weakness. He also reiterated the importance of reviewing the team's mental attitude, stating that it is not enough to talk about systems but we need to focus on individual duels.
As for absences, DiFrancesco said that while the team can't afford too many shortcomings, the situation still provided opportunities for players that needed to be taken advantage of. He expressed his willingness to make the right choices to strengthen mental toughness in the future.
Finally, the coach asked if the result was too large, replying that, while recognizing the need to improve, he attributed the defeat to both his own mistakes and those of Frosinone. He closed the conference by underlining that the change of coach in Italy is a reality, but that the real challenge is maintaining a long-term project.
