Massimiliano Allegri, Napoli coach, has clarified his position on the future of striker Rasmus Hojlund in view of the match against Venezia. During yesterday's press conference, the coach explained that the final decision will depend on the results of today's training. "I will evaluate whether to field Lucca or Hojlund. Rasmus has played many games and needs a bit of rest, or to come on the bench," said Allegri.
The coach then underlined the qualities of Lucca, who also showed himself in form in Spain. "Lucca came in well, he had a couple of favorable situations, he kicked but was tackled, he moved well. He has important qualities and must make his contribution in terms of goals," he added. Allegri acknowledged that Lucca has been the subject of criticism and targeting, but reiterated that the player has always arrived with the right mentality, despite the mistakes.
Allegri then expressed the possibility of putting both strikers on the pitch, to check which combination is more effective. "We could see the two strikers together on the pitch again. It's a solution, removing Hojlund from playing only with his back to goal, as a second striker he did well, he had found a good solution, he only made the wrong choice because he had to pass it to Lucca, but these are game situations," he explained. The coach therefore left the question open, highlighting the need to find the right synergy between the two attackers.
Napoli, which is preparing to challenge Venezia, will therefore have to decide whether to entrust the bench to Hojlund or whether to give Lucca the chance to score. The final choice will depend on the results of today's training and the tactical needs of the coach. The club will return to play next weekend, when the final result of the match will be determined.
