Frosinone surprised fans with a spectacular 4-2 victory against Sassuolo, bringing home their first point of the season and moving to fourth place in the table. The match, played at Stirpe, was dominated by young striker Davide Raimondo, who scored a hat-trick and a brace, consolidating his position as Serie A's top scorer.
The match began with a rapid attack by the yellow-blues who, thanks to an error by Bakola, scored in the 9th minute with a powerful shot by Calò. Sassuolo immediately responded, equalizing in the 14th minute with a goal from Bakola, assisted by Berardi. Frosinone, however, reacted vigorously, canceling the advantage and opening the door for their striker Raimondo. In the 26th minute the youngster took advantage of an error from Muric to make it 2-1, and four minutes later he completed his hat-trick, bringing the score to 3-2. The fourth goal came in the 37th minute with a shot by Thorstvedt, who took advantage of an assist from Esposito.
With this performance, Raimondo has entered the select club of players with three or more multiple goals in a single season, a number that puts him on par with Yamal and only behind Raphinha. His goal average, one goal every 82 minutes, makes him the league leader and a strong candidate for the national team ahead of the November window.
The result allowed Frosinone to momentarily overtake Como, Juventus and Milan, reaching 13 points, just one point behind Roma and three behind Inter and Lazio. The club has proven to be a difficult opponent to beat at home, having already won against Venezia, Como and Sassuolo. On the contrary, Sassuolo stopped at eight points, despite good performances against Milan and Juventus.
With this victory, Frosinone confirms itself as unstoppable at home and is close to fourth place, together with Cagliari. The club will have to maintain their form to continue competing for scoring places, while Sassuolo will have to regroup to make up ground in the standings. Frosinone's next match will be crucial to consolidate their position and maintain pressure on their top-level rivals.
