Como surprised the football world with a crushing 4-1 victory against Manchester United, one of the European powers that has been going through a crisis for more than a decade. The match, played in the Champions League, represented the culmination of teamwork and a transfer strategy that saw the Como club far exceeding the expectations of president Mirwan Suwarso. The team, led by rookie coach Cesc Fabregas, has demonstrated that it is capable of competing at the highest levels of European football.
At the center of the performance was Nico Paz, the Argentine star who scored two goals and provided an assist, proving to be a key element of Como's success. His contribution led to the player receiving the competition's MVP award. Paz's ultrasonic double, the first in the Champions League of his career, was accompanied by a smart assist to Tasos Douvikas, who showed the ability to create chances for his teammates.
The result was a strong signal for the market and for the Como management. The club has invested 60 million euros for a new year of contracts and has shown that the investment has paid off. The success on the pitch has also attracted the attention of top-flight clubs, including Real Madrid, who have attempted to bring Paz back to Spain, and Premier League clubs, who have expressed interest in the Argentine player.
The former coach of Belgium and Portugal, Roberto Martinez, commented on Paz's performance, underlining that "two goals and an assist are what defines a star". He added that Paz's performance was reminiscent of "Maradona on the pitch" for his ability to carry the team on his shoulders. Martinez, now a technical observer for UEFA, has expressed his intention to monitor how Paz handles pressure and his technical qualities, such as ball control and balance.
Como, with this result, confirms itself as one of the most interesting teams in the Champions League. The club has shown that it has the ability to compete with the strongest teams in Europe and produce high-level players like Nico Paz. With the season still underway, Como fans can look forward with optimism, hoping that the team will continue to surprise and reach new goals.
