Nigerian striker UmarSadiq has confirmed that his return to Valencia is just around the corner, after an injury to his right hamstring that prevented him from competing since the match against Deportivo at the end of August. In a signing session organized by LaLiga and Movistar, the player, who is in the final phase of his rehabilitation, assured that he only has a few more tests left and that, if the deadlines are met, he will return to the playing fields very soon.
During the event, Sadiq spoke optimistically about his future at the club. "I'm close to returning. I have to pass several tests tomorrow and, if everything goes according to the deadlines, I'm very close," he declared, adding that coach JavierAguirre has expressed his confidence in what he can contribute to the team. The Nigerian stressed that his goal is to become the reference forward, just like VedatMuriqi was in Mallorca, and that his return will be a key piece for Valencia's offense.
The player also made reference to the team's situation and the need to reverse the dynamic of results. "We are fine, we try to give positivity. We are going step by step, we are with Aguirre," he stated, before adding that the main objective is to take Valencia to where it "deserves", a goal that he shares with his teammates. “Not only do I have it, all the players have it,” he concluded.
Regarding the comparison with Muriqi, Sadiq responded with a smile: "Muriqi is more similar to me than I am to him. Of course, he can score the goals that Muriqi scored for Mallorca, why not?" With this phrase, the forward showed his confidence in his ability to repeat the success that the Kosovar had at the Balearic club.
The Nigerian assured that, once the injury is overcome, he will return with his best version and will become an offensive alternative for Valencia, which under the direction of Aguirre seeks to take a step forward in the competition. Meanwhile, the team continues to work on its recovery process and preparation for the next phase of the season.
