Lecce is preparing for a decisive match against Udinese, with EusebioDiFrancesco clearly expressing the expectations of the Salento club. In the pre-match press conference, the coach underlined that, although Udinese is a team with quality and physical players, Lecce still must obtain points to consolidate their position in the league table.
DiFrancesco recalled that, in the last few matches, Lecce has faced opponents who must win, but that the Salento team needs to get a result. He also highlighted the presence of high-level players in the Udinese squad, including Davis, who if fit can make the difference. “We face a team used to playing in these leagues, but we have to get points,” he said, adding that the journey to Udine is long and could affect performances.
The coach then indicated the areas of improvement for his team. “I tell the boys to clean the first ball after the recovery, to consolidate possession and recovery,” he explained. He highlighted that the data on recoveries going forward is objective, but that Lecce makes too many mistakes in that phase. “There are qualities and characteristics of certain players, through work we can improve,” he added.
Finally, DiFrancesco analyzed the tactical differences between Bologna and Udinese. He observed that, although both adopt a 4‑2‑3‑1, Udinese follows the man less and works more on the area, with an excellent ability to distribute in the attacking phase. “We must be good at building but also at having preventive measures,” he concluded, indicating that game construction and the ability to prevent opposing attacks will be fundamental for tomorrow's match.
With the seventh matchday of the championship approaching, Lecce aims to transform its recovery and building capacity into concrete results against a high-level opponent, hoping to gain precious points in the race towards the table.
