Yesterday evening the ninth day of the Serie B championship took place, with three matches that closed the midweek round. Attention was captured by two results that had a significant impact on the scoreboard: the victory of Hellas Verona on the pitch of Juve Stabia and the defeat of Arezzo against Carrarese.
On the Stabia pitch, Andalusian Harroui scored the only goal of the match, leading Hellas Verona to win the three points with a 1-0 result. This victory allows the Venetian club to maintain its position in the top half of the table, where it is currently in twelfth place, two points behind Avellino and four behind Cesena. The positive trend was also confirmed by the Verona team, which continued to show defensive solidity and take advantage of the opportunities created in attack.
Meanwhile, Carrarese achieved an important result against Arezzo, winning 2-1 thanks to a goal from Topalovic in the 83rd minute and a further goal from Parlanti in the last minute. Amaranth, which had already proven to be a competitive team, however lost the match in the second half. With this result, Carrarese moved to third position in the standings, just two points behind Modena, and eliminated Arezzo from the podium, which is now in tenth place. Arezzo, despite having started the match well, was unable to recover the lead and had to settle for a point for Modena's victory against Vicenza.
Other key results of the day include the 1-1 draw between Benevento and Catanzaro, Ascoli's win over Sampdoria 2-0, Cesena's win over Empoli 2-1, Mantova's win over Cremonese 2-0, Padova's win over Sudtirol 2-0, Virtus Entella's match against Avellino which ended 1-1 and Pisa's match against Palermo which ended 3-3 after a scorching final. The last match saw the Palermo team draw with Pisa thanks to a goal from Pittarello in the 80th minute and another from Marras in the last minute.
The current Serie B scoreboard shows Palermo in the lead with 23 points, followed by Modena and Ascoli. Benevento, Pisa and Sudtirol compete for the intermediate position, while Avellino and Hellas Verona are in the mid-table area. Carrarese, thanks to the victory against Arezzo, rose to third position, while Arezzo remains tenth. The teams at the bottom of the table include Empoli, Sampdoria and Catanzaro, with the four-point penalty imposed on Empoli by the Sporting Justice.
With these performances, the teams prepare for the next week of matches, trying to consolidate their position and recover any points lost. The attention of the fans remains high, especially for the teams that are in the promotion zone and for those fighting to avoid relegation.
