FC Barcelona and the young midfielder Marc Bernal have concluded a negotiation that will lead them to renew the player's contract until 2031, with a termination clause set at 500 million euros. According to the report, the signing of the documentation and official communication are awaiting a specific date, which the club and the player hope to specify this week. The closing meeting will take place in the office of president JoanLaporta, together with the sports vice president RafaYuste and the sports management, with the presence of director Deco and coordinator BojanKrkic.
The speed of the agreement is due to the good disposition of both parties. Bernal, who is 19 years old, had already extended his contract in 2029, shortly after his debut with the first team and after a serious knee injury that he suffered in September 2025. The midfielder, originally from Berga, returned to the playing fields on September 14, 2025 after 383 days of absence, after having participated in the first three games of the 2024-25 season under the direction of HansiFlick, who had put him on the bench when he was just 17 years old.
During last season, Bernal played 33 official games and accumulated 1,313 minutes, while in the current campaign he has appeared in nine games, totaling 338 minutes. His development has been closely supervised by coach RodrigoHernández, who has been key in his technical and tactical growth.
The Barça club and the player are looking for the ideal date to formalize the agreement, which could be celebrated between the matches on Tuesday against Galatasaray and on Saturday against Betis. The signing of the renewal will allow Barça to secure one of its young talents for the long term, while the player will be able to continue his progression within the club structure.
With the extension until 2031, Bernal will be linked to Barça for the next six years, which consolidates the club's commitment to its youth academy and guarantees the continuity of its young player development project. The next phase will be the official publication of the contract and the celebration of the signing before the media, which will mark the beginning of a new stage for the Catalan midfielder.
