The collective of discontinued permanent employees of FCBarcelona has announced a strike that will take place from October 23 to 26, just after the Liga Clásico against Real Madrid. The protest, which runs from midnight Friday until 6 a.m. on Monday, affects three matches of the season: the Clásico at the Spotify CampNou, the Barça-RebiCuenca handball match at the Palau Blaugrana and the LigaFMoeve Barça-Granada match at the Estadi JohanCruyff. The club, for its part, assures that the activity will not be interrupted "in any case" and that negotiations with the union will continue in the following days.
The reason for the strike is the deterioration of working conditions that the group denounces. According to the strike committee, the discontinued permanent staff faces a “breach of agreements”, contractual irregularities, discrimination between workers from the same club and the progressive reduction of their workforce. In addition, they point out that various services are being outsourced, which, according to them, makes services precarious and reduces the ability to respond to incidents, negatively affecting service to members and fans. The group, which consists of 60 employees, believes that the number should be increased to between 90 and 95 people to adequately cover all necessary tasks.
The last hiring process was carried out in October 2024, but the club maintains that there will be no new additions until the works at the Spotify CampNou are completed. This situation has generated tensions between staff and management, who have reiterated their commitment to maintaining the continuity of the matches and the operation of the club during the strike period.
Among the affected matches are the Liga Clásico, which will be played at 9 p.m. on Sunday the 25th at the CampNou, the Barça-RebiCuenca handball match at 7 p.m. on Friday the 23rd at the Palau Blaugrana and the LigaFMoeve Barça-Granada match at 2030h. on Saturday the 24th at the Estadi JohanCruyff. The Barça-Casademont Zaragoza basketball game is also scheduled for Saturday the 24th at 9 p.m. on the same stage of the Palau Blaugrana.
The club has indicated that activity will not stop, but the strike could cause delays and operational adjustments to scheduled events. Negotiations between the union and the management of FCBarcelona will remain active, with the expectation of reaching an agreement that will avoid the paralysis of matches and improve the working conditions of the group of permanent, discontinued employees.
