Simone LoSchiavo, born in Tropea on 25 October 1985, was recently announced as Inter's new deputy sporting director, a role which, although yet to be officially confirmed, leads him to work in close collaboration with Dario Baccin, the Nerazzurri sporting director. The young manager, who began his career as a lawyer with a law degree, chose to dedicate himself to football after gaining experience as an observer and completing a training course in Coverciano, where he obtained the qualification as sports director.
His career began in the lower categories, with a leading role at Vibonese, a club to which he is still personally linked. At 32 years old, in 2017, he was appointed sporting director of the team, contributing to the promotion from SerieD to SerieC thanks to the comeback against Troina and the play-off won on penalties. He subsequently led two saves in SerieB before moving to Roma in 2020, where he held the position of scouting manager and then technical coordinator of the youth teams, including Primavera, Under18 and Under17.
In 2022 he was called by Salernitana as scouting manager, where he collaborated with Morgan De Sanctis to build a team that achieved salvation in Serie A. In 2024 he then accepted a position in the scouting area of Palermo, before being called up by Inter. Its reputation has been built above all on the discovery of young talent at low costs, with a keen eye on profiles that can be developed before their value on the market rises.
Among the most significant names he has brought to top-level clubs are Felix Afena‑Gyan, who was spotted by LoSchiavo in Ghana and introduced to Morgan De Sanctis; Roma then decided to invest in this youngster from 2003, who was launched into the first team by José Mourinho. Other players who have been part of his scouting work at Roma include Benjamin Tahirovic, Cristian Volpato, João Costa and Alessandro Romano, all low-cost transfers who have generated significant capital gains for the club. In Salerno, his scouting activity led to the arrival of Boulaye Dia, Bradaric, Daniliuc, Pirola and Vilhena, contributing to the construction of a competitive team.
Inter, with the choice of LoSchiavo, aims to strengthen its scouting and youth development structure, focusing on an approach that favors the early discovery of little-known talents. If the appointment is made official, the new deputy sporting director will have to integrate Dario Baccin's strategies already in place and contribute to keeping Inter among the most competitive clubs in Italy and Europe. The next step will be to observe how his many years of experience in the lower categories and scouting systems will influence the composition of the Nerazzurri squad in the coming months.
