Referee AdriánCorderoVega has published the official report of the controversial match between Levante and Sevilla that ended in a three-way tie at the Ciutat de València. The document details two incidents that marked the match: the expulsion of striker IsaacRomero and the throwing of objects by Levante fans.
The first point refers to the expulsion of IsaacRomero after his celebration of the goal that gave Sevilla the 2-3 lead in added time in the second half. The player had already received a yellow card before for grabbing, so the second offense led to the red card. The minutes indicate that, in the 90th minute, Romero went to the stands where the local public was and made a gesture of silence, putting his index finger to his mouth. This act caused the crowd to throw plastic bottles, glasses and other objects towards the celebration area, although none of them hit anyone. The referee corrected a typographical error in the annotation of the minute of the second yellow card, clarifying that it was shown in the 90+5 minute after the goal.
The second incident is related to the object throwing protocol. The minutes mention that, in the 95th minute, after Romero's celebration, Levante fans identified by the color of their shirts threw a large number of bottles and glasses into the celebration area. The referee reported the incident over the public address system and resumed the match without any further alterations. According to the protocol, Levante could receive a light fine of up to 602 euros, since the objects did not impact any player or the public.
The minutes also include the applicable regulations. Reference is made to IFAB Rule 12 on celebrations, which states that the player must act in a non-provocative and exalted manner. In addition, the RFEF Disciplinary Code is cited, which contemplates a warning when the footballer takes off his shirt or raises it over his head, as well as when he faces the fence that surrounds the playing field. In this case, the referee considered that Romero's celebration met those criteria, justifying the yellow card and subsequent expulsion.
With the tie at three, Levante and Sevilla remain in the same position in the table, although the result did not significantly alter the classification. Levante's next match will be against Alavés, while Sevilla will face RealBetis. The players involved in the incidents must comply with the sanctions established by the RFEF, and Levante must manage the possible fine for throwing objects.
