Bayern Munich has confirmed that, although it is still interested in two FC Barcelona players, it has no plans to sign them during the winter market. Christian Falk, a journalist specialized in the German club and head of football at the BILD publishing group, assured that there are no active negotiations or strategies to hire DaniOlmo or JulesKoundé in January.
The 28-year-old Barça midfielder has been the subject of Bayern's attention since before his return to Barça in the summer of 2024. The Bavarian club had previously shown interest when Olmo was at RBLeipzig, and the possibility of the German club paying up to €90m had already been mentioned in several sources, including SkySports. Despite this, the player maintains his contract with Barça until 2030 and has focused on continuing to win titles with the Catalan club. Falk stressed that, although Bayern still consider Olmo an attractive long-term option, there is no concrete deal in the works for January.
As for JulesKoundé, 27, the scenario is similar. The French defender, who joined Barça in 2022 after excelling at Sevilla, has also been linked with Bayern. Falk recalled that the German club had tried to sign him before his arrival in Spain, but that the figure that Bayern would be willing to pay—between 80 and 90 million euros—is outside their investment range for the winter market. Therefore, Bayern are not contemplating an immediate purchase of Koundé, although his versatility and experience in the elite keep him as a possible future target.
Both players, although under Bayern's scrutiny, remain focused on their respective teams. Barça maintains Olmo and Koundé as key pieces of its squad, and no movements have been announced that imply their departure. Bayern, for its part, will continue to observe the market and evaluate whether in the near future it can justify the investment necessary to incorporate them.
With the winter market about to open, Bayern Munich seems to have put on hold any attempt to sign Olmo and Koundé, although the attention of the German club does not fade. Bayern and Barça fans will be able to follow closely if new negotiations arise in the coming weeks, but for now the situation remains static.
