Osasuna coach Luis Miguel Ramírez expressed his frustration after the 5‑2 defeat against Betis on matchday eight of LaLiga. In a comment addressed to the media, Ramírez stated that the team “is being punished” for several referee decisions, citing a key play in which a foul was not called on an Osanú player and which, according to him, could have altered the result when the score was 3-2 in favor of Betis.
The Tarragona coach recalled that, although he recognizes the need to internally analyze the errors that have cost goals, he cannot ignore that the referees seem to be working against Osasuna. “We had to defend with and without the ball and we tried it in the first half, in which a harsh penalty came because as soon as we touched him he went to the ground (1‑0), but we were not doing things so badly to lose,” he explained. Likewise, he pointed out that Betis's second goal, 2-0, resulted from an error that must be corrected, and that the second half was “good” although he regretted not having kept the 3-2 lead longer.
Ramírez made reference to a specific action when the score was 3‑2. “Natan (Betis player) does not want to interrupt the race, but Rubén crosses the path, there are no involuntary actions, but if you touch him the player goes to the ground,” he explained, indicating that he did not understand the referee decisions that he considered unfair. Despite the criticism, the coach stressed the importance of staying calm and resting properly before the next day.
Regarding Osasuna's position in the table, the result leaves the team in the relegation zone, which increases the pressure to find solutions both on the field and in match management. The next match is presented as an opportunity for the Pamplona team to regain confidence and avoid more penalties that could affect their performance. Ramírez concluded that, despite the criticism, the club will continue working to improve and prevent referee decisions from negatively influencing its future results.
