Alessandro Murgia, former Lazio midfielder, emotionally recalled the 2017 Italian Super Cup final against Juventus, in which his injury-time goal guaranteed victory for the Biancocelesti. During an interview on Radio Laziale, Murgia declared that he still feels chills every time he sees the images of that match again, describing the event as "a fantastic moment for me and for all the people of Lazio". According to him, the last minute goal changed the fate of the match, transforming a final that already seemed lost into a memorable victory.
The footballer added that, if he could, he would exchange the Super Cup goal for his entire career in Lazio, underlining the unique emotions he felt playing at the Olimpico with the team's shirt. Murgia also recalled the controversial Lazio-Inter match in 2018, which ended 2-3, which prevented Lazio from qualifying for the Champions League. On that occasion, he expressed great respect for defender Stefan DeVrij, calling him "an exemplary professional" who always gave his all for the team and the fans, even in less than optimal physical conditions.
As for coach Simone Inzaghi, Murgia praised his human and technical management, describing him as "complete from all points of view". According to the former player, Inzaghi was able to put himself on the players' level and, at the same time, exercise strong authority. Murgia underlined that the mentality of never giving up, typical of Inzaghi, was also decisive in winning the 2017 Super Cup, and that this philosophy remained a trademark of Lazio in the following years, with numerous matches won at the last minute.
The interview highlighted how the figure of Inzaghi and the mentality of resilience were fundamental for Lazio, helping to create a culture of victory even in the most difficult moments. Murgia concluded by recalling that, despite the challenges, the team continues to maintain the same determination and fighting spirit, elements that made the 2017 Super Cup an indelible memory for Lazio fans.
