Athletic Bilbao achieved a resounding 4‑0 victory over Getafe, a result that coach Edin Terzic described as a “deserved” and “coral” victory. The match, which was played at the San Mamés, marked the end of a streak of four games without a win and consolidated the team's position in the First Division table.
From the beginning, Athletic showed dominance and constant pressure. Terzic highlighted that the team had “started well, dominating, with pressure, good defense and waves in attack.” The goals, all from set pieces, included a first shot that opened the scoring and which the coach described as crucial for the team's morale. Additionally, forward Iñaki Williams scored his first goal for the club, an important moment for him and the squad.
The coach also praised the participation of quarry players, such as Imga and Vizcay, who made their debut in the match, and recalled the arrival of Prados, who returned to the team after an absence. “The circle is closed,” said Terzic, underlining the pride he feels in the integration of young talents.
Despite the success, the match was interrupted by the injury of Galarreta, who had to leave the field after a quarter of an hour. Substitute Gere came on in his place and the coach minimized the incident, describing it as a “small muscle discomfort.” Terzic emphasized the team's preparation to cover any absence, noting that the squad was "prepared to fill in the gaps if someone leaves."
Regarding the assessment of the three points, Terzic explained that “three points are always good” and that, although he had been “disappointed in recent weeks”, the victory gave him the feeling that the training was paying off. “I have been the same guy as when we lost to Levante,” he added, noting that the team has taken a step forward.
The coach concluded that the result reflects the collective effort: "We have won as a team, with a clean sheet and with good moments. I am delighted that we have performed very well as a team." With this victory, Athletic advances in the fight for qualifying positions, while Getafe remains with a record of games without winning that will continue under pressure.
