Coach Salvatore Elia spoke at the end of the match against Juve Stabia, in which Cremonese achieved a 2-1 victory on the eighth matchday of the 2026/27 Serie B. During the press conference he underlined the difficulties encountered by the team, highlighting the need to get back on track and focus on the next match on Tuesday.
Elia observed that the team slowed down after the 60th minute, missing the chances they had created in the first half. “We tried to recover the match in the best possible way, giving our opponents more space,” he declared. “The championship is long and we need to get back on track, so we need to score as many points as possible.” The coach also asked if Cremonese lacks playing identity and if nervousness affected their performances. "We are in a difficult moment, but we have had several opportunities and the episodes have not gone in our favor. Mentally we have to recover as soon as possible," he explained.
Regarding the second half, Elia recognized that Juve Stabia had many opportunities and asked if the team had too much of a defeatist attitude. "When you try to make up for waste, mental energy is also used a lot. After the 60th minute, after having given so much, there is the risk of arriving exhausted. To recover from these moments, it is the head that makes the difference", said the coach.
The Cremonese captain, who has often played as a left-back in recent years, confirmed his willingness to change position if necessary. "I am always ready to make myself available to the coach, both from the start and as a substitute. In this moment of difficulty the main thing is to score as many points as possible and if to do so I have to play in that position I will do so", he stated.
Elia concluded by reminding that the team must get back on track and think about the next match on Tuesday. "The teams are waiting for us and we try to impose our game, but we are not succeeding. We have to reset and think about Tuesday," he added. With these words, Cremonese prepares for a new match, trying to consolidate its position in the rankings and regain the fans' trust.
