The Lazio coach, Gennaro Gattuso, made headlines in the press conference the evening before the match against Cagliari, with a personal dedication to his wife and a message of motivation to the fans. The speech, held at the Olimpico, was characterized by a direct and unfiltered tone, typical of his style.
Gattuso began by recalling his long relationship with his partner, underlining how her presence was fundamental in moments of difficulty, especially after the disappointment of failing to qualify for the World Cup as Italy's top scorer. “The beauty of football is that it allows you to redeem yourself,” he said, adding that the importance is to “improve yourself and not get depressed”. The dedication to his wife was an emotional moment, in which he expressed gratitude for the support he has received over the years.
On the pitch, Gattuso reiterated that Lazio has no time for a turnover. Although the team is at the top of the table together with Inter, the coach has declared that he does not intend to make drastic changes. “Let's see today, let's give continuity to what we are doing on the tests,” he explained, referring to the recent recoveries of the players. The only expected change compared to the 6-2 win against Sassuolo is the inclusion of Provstgaard in Leite's place.
The coach also spoke about the recovery tests carried out in the previous days, stating that the players are recovering well. “Yesterday we pushed a little, these days we have done little, with the three races we have been calmer,” he observed, highlighting the need to maintain a balance between intensity and recovery.
With the match against Cagliari scheduled, Gattuso closed the conference with a message of hope for the fans: "I live on emotions, otherwise I would go for a walk with the dog". The team, which is at the top of Serie A, will have to continue to support its position and consolidate the physical fitness of the players to face the next challenges. Tomorrow's match represents an opportunity to verify whether the continuity and recovery strategy will bring the expected results.
