Luca Modric has expressed AC Milan's frustration after the defeat to Bologna, warning that the sudden own goal affected the result and made the team "nervous". The former club captain underlined that the match ended with a negative result, but urged the fans not to lose faith, recalling that Milan will face Inter in a crucial derby on Saturday.
The captain began his interview with SportMediaset by recalling that the defeat is "a tough one for us", especially because the match against Inter is approaching. Modric said that despite the loss, Milan have "done well" in the league so far and that the team must "get back up immediately" to face Saturday's match. He also explained that the own goal, which occurred suddenly, "unnerved" the players, making it difficult to regain control of the match. “We were too hasty and we couldn't get back into the game,” he added, highlighting that the team had a “bad final phase” and that the defeat was fair.
Modric then spoke about the derby against Inter, recalling that the last two derbies were won by Milan. He expressed confidence in the players and the club's "equipment", stating that "a great match awaits us" and that the fans must "rest calm". The captain concluded with a positive message, inviting fans to believe in the team and support Milan ahead of Saturday's match.
Meanwhile, Modric commented on the Ballon d'Or won by Harry Kane, declaring that "there were many candidates of great value, but if Kane won it it's because he deserved it". He expressed his compliments to the English player, underlining the importance of the recognition.
With the derby against Inter scheduled for Saturday, Milan must try to recover from the defeat against Bologna and demonstrate that they are still capable of competing at the highest level. The club is preparing to give its all to maintain the tradition of winning derbies and to consolidate its position in Serie A.
