Atlético de Madrid coach, Diego Pablo Simeone, has stressed the importance of focusing on the next match against Manchester United, which will be held on Tuesday, October 13 in the second round of the Champions League. In his interview, the coach emphasized that success depends on his team's ability to win each game individually, without being distracted by future scenarios such as the possible final at the Metropolitano.
Simeone recalled Atlético's performance on Saturday, where forward Julián Álvarez showed his versatility beyond scoring goals, assisting and contributing to the team game. The coach expressed his confidence that the player will continue to offer that level of performance in the upcoming games. Likewise, he highlighted the need to score points in each match, since the competition requires consistent results, whether at home or away.
In relation to the possible final at the Metropolitano, Simeone clarified that his focus is on the present: "We must not feed distant expectations, but rather concentrate on match by match. We are strong there." This comment reflects the coach's philosophy of valuing each match as an opportunity to advance in the competition.
Atlético, who have already faced Manchester United last season, recognize that the rival is a solid team with fast players and aggressive movements. Simeone noted that Manchester United have demonstrated their ability to press effectively on the pitch, which requires a balanced response from Atlético. The coach also stressed the importance of managing efforts throughout the match to compete optimally.
Regarding team preparation, Simeone spoke of the need to choose the right players and remain calm to effectively manage matches. He mentioned that Manchester United has a squad with many key players, but that Atlético focuses on the first games of the season to establish a solid foundation. Furthermore, the coach highlighted the importance of players like Lookman and Baena, who, despite the ups and downs, have the confidence and security necessary to contribute to the team at the right time.
With the Champions League final still in sight, Atlético de Madrid prepares for the match against Manchester United with the conviction that each match is an opportunity to advance. The team's focus remains on consistency and discipline, with the expectation that the next duel will allow them to consolidate their position in the group stage and continue competing in European competition.
