FC Barcelona has reaffirmed its full confidence in the squad and coaching staff after two consecutive defeats against PSG and Real Madrid, which have eclipsed the streak of eleven victories that the team had previously maintained. In the club's official statement, published after the meeting on Thursday afternoon, it is highlighted that, despite the negative results, the team retains its enthusiasm and ambition, and that its commitment to the challenges of the season remains intact.
Coach HansiFlick, who has been the subject of tactical questions for the supposed naivety of his system against the big European teams, responded firmly in the press conference prior to the game against Alavés. He declared that, although two games have been lost in the last week, there is no lack of mentality in the group and that the idea of the game that he has imposed will remain in force until the end of the season. Flick emphasized the need to maintain concentration and collective defense, underlining that the responsibility of maintaining possession and avoiding losses falls not only on the defenders, but on the entire team.
Regarding points to improve, Flick pointed out that the team must learn from defeats and look for concrete solutions. He mentioned the importance of not losing easy balls, especially in critical moments, and of reinforcing the ability to mark the opponent when having to defend in the area. He also referred to the need to control the pace of the game, reduce errors and remain calm in matches.
The coach highlighted the availability of players like Frenkie de Jong, who can contribute in ball control and defense, and the versatility of other members of the squad who could occupy the central position. Flick stressed the importance of properly managing who occupies each position, especially in midfield, to ensure defensive stability and team balance.
With the season still underway, Barça is preparing to continue fighting for titles, with the conviction that the key is to consolidate the idea of the game and improve tactical discipline. The next match will be crucial to show that the team can overcome difficulties and regain the path to victory.
