Liverpool fans had a real party of musical parodies during the match against Manchester City, transforming Anfield into a real Oasis-themed festival. The chants, banners and flags, all inspired by the lyrics of their cults, highlighted not only the footballing but also the musical rivalry between the two cities: Liverpool, home of the Beatles, and Manchester, the home of Oasis.
The match, which ended with a clear victory for City 3‑0, was accompanied by a series of provocative expressions from the Rossoneri fans. The flags read phrases like “you're being relegated” or “you haven't won a trophy since 1976”, while the “Wonderwall” signs were transformed into “and after all, you really did steal from us all”. At the same time, City fans, with their typical energy, chanted “Cheaters” every time the ball was in the Reds' possession.
Among the most viral images of the match, the most discussed was that of Noel Gallagher, brother of the famous Oasis singer. In a moment of great curiosity, the camera captured the musician standing in the visitors' area, perplexed at first but then visibly happy when Haaland scored the decisive goal. Gallagher then surprised spectators with a wry smile as he walked away from the stadium. The episode was quickly shared on social media, becoming a global meme.
Haaland's father was also pictured in a further celebratory scene, with the energy of the City crowd mixing with the anger of the Liverpool fans. While the Reds remain in tenth place in the table, City consolidate their leading position, thanks also to the results obtained in this match.
The next meeting for both teams is scheduled for next week, when Liverpool face Chelsea at home, while Manchester City prepare for a crucial match against Tottenham. The fans, although disappointed by the defeat, remain optimistic about the possibility of recovering points, while City will continue to push to consolidate their position in the Premier League.
