Cristian Chivu, Inter's new coach, has announced his most immediate goal: the first victory in the derby against Milan which will have to come in the next match. In the press conference, the coach underlined that the team cannot dwell on past mistakes or on the start of the season, but must focus on becoming the best version of itself, adding a few more elements than what has already been done.
According to Chivu, if Inter fail to win the derby in the next six or seven games, a fundamental question should be asked. “It doesn't mean that the players didn't work hard,” he explained, but that in recent matches events have gone in their favor and the team has lost. The coach then asked for greater awareness and an extra sacrifice, highlighting that high-level teams take nothing for granted. “We need to do a little more,” he concluded, reiterating the importance of extra effort to achieve results.
The discussion then moved on to Marcus Thuram, who had to compensate for the absence of Lautaro Martínez in attack. Chivu described Thuram as being in excellent form, stating that the player does not have any energy deficit. “When a player becomes decisive and central to his team, he always finds the necessary energy,” he said, underlining Thuram's ability to maintain the required level of performance.
The coach closed the conference by recalling that Inter must be ready to make sacrifices and not expect anything gratuitous from their opponents. The next derby represents a crucial opportunity to demonstrate the desire to improve and achieve concrete results. If Inter manages to beat Milan, they will be able to consolidate their position in the league table and give a signal of strength to the fans. If, however, it were to fail, Chivu has already outlined the points to be reviewed so as not to repeat the same mistakes. The future of the club will therefore depend on the ability to put his indications into practice and transform determination into victory.
