The Allegri case is approaching a formal conclusion: the federal prosecutor's office will send the sports judge tomorrow a detailed report on the statements made by Napoli coach Massimiliano Allegri during the Napoli-Roma match. The final decision will be up to the office led by Gerardo Mastrandrea, who will have to express the verdict by tomorrow, before Serie A returns to the field on Tuesday.
The evaluations will focus on two distinct areas. For the sentences exchanged on the pitch and in the locker room, the Prosecutor's Office has already collected the necessary evidence and will proceed with the report. In the case of the statements that emerged in the press room, in particular the sentence "Last year they put the Champions League in his pocket and I paid with Milan", the Prosecutor's Office will await the analysis of the sports judge. If the judge does not rule, the Prosecutor's Office may decide to open a case.
As regards sanctions, the expulsion received at the end entails the possibility of a one-match disqualification for Allegri, unless the referee's report contains insulting or seriously disrespectful expressions towards the match officials. In this case, article 36 of the Sports Justice Code provides for more severe sanctions.
The sentence about "putting the Champions League in Roma's pocket" was evaluated separately. If the Prosecutor's Office deems it detrimental to the regularity of the championship or the impartiality of the referees, it could challenge article 23 CGS, which for a professional member provides for a fine of 2,500 to 50,000 euros and, in extreme cases, the liability of the club. However, the possibility of a disqualification for this statement is considered more unlikely.
The case remains pending the sports judge's verdict, which must be issued before the next Serie A match. The outcome of this decision will determine whether Allegri will face financial or disciplinary sanctions, affecting both his career and Napoli's situation.
