The president of Como, Mirwan Suwarso, explained in an interview with the Portuguese newspaper A BOLA how the blue and white club is transforming the fans' experience into a truly high-level tourist package. After making headlines with their first two Champions League appearances against Leipzig and Feyenoord, Como is aiming to consolidate its identity not only as a football team, but also as a destination for entertainment and relaxation for visitors.
According to Suwarso, the small structure of the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium, located on Lake Como and surrounded by mountains, does not offer the necessary capacity to accommodate a large number of spectators in the hospitality areas. “We can't increase the number of seats much, but we have added experiences,” he said. The president therefore created a new concept in which spectators can enjoy drinks, food and scenic walks before the start of the match, taking advantage of the proximity of the lake and the surrounding landscape. To make the experience even more exclusive, the club has rented four villas and a boat, transforming these spaces into VIP areas where fans can enjoy the atmosphere beforehand.
The result of this renewed strategy was a significant increase in the price of tickets for the hospitality areas. “The ticket went from 80 to 2500 euros for the biggest and best areas,” Suwarso explained, stressing that the club kept community tickets at 20 euros to ensure accessibility. Currently, Como has around 1000 hospitality seats, offering a mix of comfort and panoramic views of the lake and mountains.
The president also highlighted how this initiative is part of a broader growth project for the club after years of difficulty and competition in lower leagues. The return to Serie A and participation in the Champions League gave Como the opportunity to renew its image and attract a wider audience, both local and international. The aim is to transform the club into a point of reference for football fans and tourists who wish to live a unique experience on Lake Como.
Looking to the future, Como intends to continue to develop its hospitality concept, expanding the infrastructure and improving the offer for fans. With the Champions League approaching and Serie A offering new challenges, the club is ready to make the most of the potential of its territory, combining sport, culture and tourism in a single entertainment proposal.
