Napoli have published the official medical report regarding David Neres, who suffered an injury during the Champions League match against Villarreal. The Italian midfielder, who entered the field in the second half, suffered a muscle strain which led to a low-grade injury to the semimembranosus muscle of his right thigh. The sample underwent tests at the Pineta Grande hospital, where the diagnosis was confirmed. Neres has already started his rehabilitation process.
According to information provided by Sky Sports, the expected duration of recovery is approximately three weeks. Gennaro Gattuso's team expects the player to be able to return to the pitch for the November 8 match against Lazio, if his recovery proceeds as expected. Otherwise, Neres should return immediately after the international break. The midfielder, who has already shown great value on the pitch, has been a key element for the team at this stage of the season.
Napoli's calendar for the next few weeks has already been outlined. The club will face Venezia in Serie A on 17 October, followed by the match against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League on 20 October. On 24 October the team will compete against Roma, while on 28 October they will host Monza. The match against Juventus is scheduled for November 1st, followed by the match against Porto on November 4th. On November 8, after the break, Napoli will play against Lazio and on November 21, once the international break is over, the club will face Torino.
Neres' injury is a hard blow for the Napoli squad, which has already had to face several difficulties this season. However, the club remains confident in the player's speedy recovery and his ability to return to contribute his experience and skills. Coaches and medical staff will continue to closely monitor Neres' situation, with the aim of ensuring a safe and timely return to the field.
