Real Madrid concluded their last training session in Valdebebas before heading to Rome for the second match of the group stage of the Champions League, which will be held on Wednesday, October 14 at 9:00 p.m. at the Olympic Stadium. The white team, under the direction of José Mourinho, had the presence of all the available players, although the Brazilian Éder Militao and the Frenchman Ferland Mendy will not be part of the official squad for the match against the Italian capital.
The training, which was opened to the press during the first minutes, began with a warm-up and rondos before moving into a tactical phase. The players participated in small matches and shooting exercises at goal, seeking to refine defensive organization and the transition to attack. Mendy and Militao rejoined the group, as they did on Monday, but both remain outside the UEFA registration list for the competition. Mourinho explained in his last press conference that, despite their physical availability, he will not include them in the starting eleven or in the reserve lineup, leaving the midfielder and full-back position free for other players.
The only ones absent from the session were the long-term injured Rodrygo Goes, who continues training individually, and Raúl Asencio, who continues his recovery process after surgery to treat a stress fracture in his right tibia. Asencio, who had recently undergone the operation, has not yet been able to rejoin the training group.
Real Madrid will head to Rome in the afternoon of the same day, with the intention of taking advantage of the mild weather and the advantage of the second half of the match. The visit comes after a 2-1 victory over Inter Milan in the club's debut in Europe's top competition, putting the team in a favorable position within its group. Mourinho has indicated that the objective is to consolidate the advantage of the group stage and ensure qualification for the next round.
With the calendar outlined, Real Madrid is preparing for the match with Roma, while the club's next match will be against Sevilla the following weekend. The technical management and coaching staff will continue working on strategy and player selection to maintain competitiveness in the Champions League and the Spanish League.
