Gennaro Gattuso's Lazio continues to surprise football fans, with results that are talked about even outside the championship. After a spectacular victory over Mapei, in which the team scored six goals against Sassuolo despite two missed penalties, the coach proved to be the key figure at the start of the season. The former Biancoceleste defender Giuseppe Pancaro, now a member of the management, expressed his admiration for the team and for the work done by the coach.
Pancaro underlined how Gattuso was fundamental not only for the performance on the pitch but also for the construction of the squad. “Gattuso is the main architect of this start to the season,” he declared, highlighting his ability to transform the team into a real goal machine. According to Pancaro, Lazio are the most exciting since Simone Inzaghi's Scudetto period, when the team was often in the lead before the championship was suspended due to the pandemic.
The manager also commented on the perception of Gattuso in Serie A, calling him "the most underrated coach". “Gattuso is a very intelligent person, humble and always ready to question himself,” explained Pancaro, praising the coach's dedication which has led to extraordinary results. Pancaro's analysis then extended to Amorim's Milan, where his impression was positive for the squad but negative for the lack of a team identity after four months of work.
As for Inter, Pancaro recognized their superiority, but highlighted the need to find a remedy for the goals conceded. “Inter are the strongest team and the favorites for the scudetto, but they have to solve the problem of the goals they concede,” he observed. He also underlined the danger of Roma, who could fight for the title if they remain hooked until the end, and expressed hope that Lazio can replicate the fairy tale of Ranieri's Leicester.
In summary, Gattuso's Lazio is proving to be a team on the rise, with a coach who is transforming the team into a real goal machine. Pancaro, with his experience and vision, confirms that Lazio are the most exciting since 2000, and the team's future looks promising, with the prospect of continuing to surprise both in Serie A and in European competitions.
