Rumors of the sale of Olympique de Marseille (OM) continue to thrill supporters, and one name regularly comes up in discussions: Rodolphe Saadé, Franco-Lebanese billionaire and director of CMACGM. Although the club has not yet communicated official negotiations, the question of whether the boss of CMACGM could become owner of OM remains at the heart of the debates.
The billionaire is already very involved in the club's economic environment thanks to a solid partnership between CMACGM and OM. His interest in the city and the club is clear, but fans remain skeptical about a possible takeover. To measure the opinion of supporters, the X But! OM conducted a survey of its subscribers. The question asked was simple: “Do you think that Rodolphe Saadé will one day buy OM? ". The results are clear: 77.9% of participants answered “no”, while only 22.1% expressed confidence in a future takeover.
This overwhelming majority reflects the lingering doubt among fans about Saadé's ability to embark on an acquisition of this scale. Despite his attachment to Marseille and the links already established between his group and the club, supporters do not yet see a solid reason to consider a transfer of ownership to the boss of CMACGM. The survey thus underlines the general skepticism surrounding this avenue, even if it is frequently mentioned in the media.
At the same time, the situation of FrankMcCourt, owner of OM since October 2016, remains uncertain. His future at the helm of the club is not yet clear, and it is not certain that he plans to sell the team in the coming years. If a sale decision were to be made, the question of whether Rodolphe Saadé could present himself as a credible candidate for succession remains open. For the moment, Marseille supporters are waiting to see if the negotiations will materialize and if a new owner will emerge, but the current verdict indicates that the majority remains cautious about the possibility of a takeover by the Franco-Lebanese billionaire.
