Milan and Inter are preparing to compete at the San Siro with two teams that have spent more than 100 million euros in the transfer market, but which have still left a negative balance. Milan invested 161 million, obtaining revenues of 90.5 million, for a net result of –70.5 million. Inter, on the other hand, spent 105.5 million, grossing 40 million, with a net of -65.5 million.
Milan has focused on its new striker Gonçalo Ramos, purchased from PSG for 74 million, and has completed the purchase of Mario Gila from Lazio. Other arrivals include Francesco Terracciano, Musah, Bondo, Comotto, Cisse, Chukwueze, Camarda, Guernier, Diawara, Diego Moreira and Hutchinson. Among the departures, the club sold Fullkrug to West Ham, Athekame to Lyon, Odogu to Toulouse, Nkunku to Leipzig, Ricci to Como, Leao to Galatasaray, Gimenez to Porto, and Fofana to Seville. The summer transfer window also saw the release of players such as Bondo and Cisse, with transfers to Cremonese and Catanzaro.
For Inter, the main expenses were for Curtis Jones and Djed Spence, coming from Liverpool and Tottenham respectively. The club also reacquired Aleksandar Stankovic from Bruges and bought back defender Akanji from Manchester City. Other arrivals include Stones, Provedel, Pavard and Spence. The most notable departures were Dumfries to Real Madrid, Cocchi to Padova, Sommer to Bruges, De Vrij to Panathinaikos, Acerbi, Darmian, Frattesi, Maye, Asllani, Topalovic, Kamaté and Zouin. Inter have also loaned some players to clubs such as Lyon, Padova and Monza.
Despite record spending, both teams show structural gaps in some key areas. Milan faced a negative balance of 70.5 million, while Inter recorded a deficit of 65.5 million. These numbers highlight the difficulty of balancing massive investments with sustainable financial results.
With the season underway, the two clubs will have to rely on their new acquisitions to compete in three competitions. Milan focuses on Ramos and Gila to strengthen the attack, while Inter relies on Jones, Spence and Stankovic to consolidate the defense and midfield. The final result of the match at the San Siro remains uncertain, but both teams have demonstrated that they are ready to fight for titles, despite the economic challenges they have faced.
